Jazzy’s new way

We have a new tripawd as of Monday. Our beautiful little 3 year old Yorkie was attacked by a pit bull on Monday and her front left leg had to be amputated. We are home and resting/recovering now. Trying to get our heads around what her future will hold. She was a very high energy playful girl who just always wanted to play ball and run. Not sure what that will look like now. My husband and I are hopeful that once she’s recovered from surgery that she will find her way again to the happy playful life. She has a sister who is being very protective but at the same time, seems so unsure about what the heck is going on.

Time heals all right? Until then, my heart is completely shattered in a million pieces.

  1. Welcome and best wishes for Jazzy! Small dogs usually do amazingly well, and she will likely surprise you. In fact, most tripawds recover quickly, adapt well too life on three legs and cope with amputation much better than us silly people! Start here for plenty of helpful resources to get the most from this community, and post in the forums for more feedback from members.

  2. The first 10 days or so is rough – keeping her quiet is key. But once the staples come out she will probably amaze you with everything she can do!
